The Edison Metro Lions Club of New Jersey proudly sponsors its 2nd annual New Jersey Children
Peace Poster Contest. With this year's theme "Peace Around the World", the contest is an
exceptional opportunity for children around the world to share their vision of peace. It is open to
students under the age of 19. Posters must be submitted no later than October 15, 2007. Please
include your poster with an enrollment fee by check payable to “Edison Metro Lions Club”, and
mail it to Linnie Hui, 1221 Inwood Terrace, Fort Lee, NJ 07024.
The contest will be divided into three groups: Group A – ages 14 to 18; Group B - ages 11 to 13;
Group C – ages 10 and below. Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third winners of each
group.
The contest rules and conditions are:
1. All posters must have dimensions no smaller than 13 inches by 20 inches and no larger than 20 inches by 24 inches. Do not mat or frame artwork.
2. Words or numbers in any language are not allowed on the front of the poster. Place name, address, birth date, school, parent or guardian name, and phone/email on the back of poster.
3. Pencils, crayons, pens, markers, paints or chalk may be used. (Chalk, charcoal or pastel entries should be sealed with a fixative spray to prevent smearing.)
4. No three-dimensional entries. Nothing may be glued, taped, stapled or attached to the poster in any way. Entries cannot be laminated. All entries must be flexible enough to be rolled up for shipping in a mailing tube. Do not fold poster.
5. No photographs may be used.
6. Each student may submit only one entry, and each entry must be the original work of only one
student.
7. 7. All entries become the property of Lions Clubs International upon receipt. No entries will be
returned. Participants accept all responsibility for late, lost, misdirected or illegible entries. Lions Clubs International is not responsible for entries damaged, destroyed or lost during the judging process.
8. Enrollment fee is $10.00 per entry. Entries will not be processed without the fee.
Winners will be notified by the Lions club, and their names will be submitted to local newspapers. Winners' posters will be exhibited at the award ceremony and also printed on the Edison Metro Lions Club’s newsletter. Three winners from group B, ages 11 through 13 with eligible birth dates from November 16, 1993 through November 15, 1996, will be selected to advance to the district semifinals, where they will have a chance to progress to the multiple districts and to the international semifinals, in which 24 finalists will be awarded. Our Lions District 16D has already produced four international merit award winners in the past few years. For a sample of previous winning posters, please go to www.lionsclubs.org. The international grand prize winner will receive US $2,500, a special commemorative plaque, and a trip for the artist and two family members to the United Nations in New York City. The 23 international merit award winners will each receive US $500 and a framed certificate. In 2006, a New Jersey winner has won the merit award again (Top 24 in the world).
